It was a day that changed everything. He was reading the book of the dead, where he was pursuing power beyond anyone in the academy wielded ever. His sacrifices only brought him to this moment to even sacrifice his sacrifices.
Everything started when he entered the academy of Oracular Wizards. The old wizards knew the bendability of the young, so they had to recruit students at a very young age. He was no exception. He still remembers the day when his family left him at college. The sorceress looking back at him had not even tried to calm him after his abandoning. This was the day darkness entered his soul.
Over the years, mages required him to perform arcane arts beyond his choice. He was forced to act. Obeying not so had severe implications. Perhaps the biggest fear was not knowing what to do when they got angry. This fear of uncertainty had established a mental wall outside him. This was going to be broken with the book of the dead.
There were others in the academy. Similarly, brought at a very young age, he witnessed those cowards turn into magicians. One was to see how others were so forgetting their past. They had been abandoned here! Left to the fate of the wizards. Though he always knew fate was his and his only. Others were eager to forget this as they were captivated by the interest of the wizards. The wizards taught them how to exploit nature. They taught the structures connecting everything.
The knowledge could be considered smooth but has been forced into them. He would deny any power above his will. For some time, he did his best to be the worst. He wanted to the place he called home, only expecting to have revenge black-hearted people who abandoned him here long ago. The book of the dead could grant him powers that no other magician can ever match. Even all of them combined would perish before the power he could yield. He would have his revenge on everything that made him in this exact position. He even hated himself because he himself was torturing himself.
He hated everybody who fell under their fears and became subjugated by those wizards. For how long would this play last? Wizards doing wizards and families abandoning their children for a bright future? The cycle had to end. But in the end, he only wanted no other children to have the same feeling of being abandoned.
Along the way, though, he had come up with novice wizards just like him. He even loved one and trusted one along the way. The one he trusted seemed to have similar motivations. His so-called friend always liked the power like him. However, this friend loved the ability only to entertain others and secure a place among other wizard boys. In essence, this friend was bound to those wicked wizard communities. He had let others imprison his soul in exchange for fame.
He knew the need for fame was a sick one that was only powering this ill community. Famous should be the first to be destroyed as they inspire others to leave their selves and sacrifice themselves for this wicked community.
She loved a novice sorceress whose care seemed infinite. She cared about everything around herself, only excluding herself. He was amazed to see how to love everything even when thrown into this soul incineration camp. His love for her was short, as she loved this community. How could a character love when they are not loved? Was she so weak to deny it? He extinguished his love with disappointment, crying of wondering about ever finding love again.
Both with his friend and love, he didn’t allow to be entertained in this enslaving society. Joy could mean acceptance that he will never ever have for this horrible place.
Deep in the arcane bookshelves where everybody would only come to practise their watched skills, he was seeking salvation and redemption. On a shelf, he noticed an ancient book. This book helped him to cast a spell that would transform this old book into the Book of the Dead. He, in his chamber, was reading the book. His thirst for power moved and secluded him. He broke the hearts of everyone around him. They cried mentally and physically for this relationship. He sometimes felt sad, but he had a purpose. He was going to have his vengeance.
Chapter after chapter enchanted power of his. One day he even managed to defeat a team of novices trying to duel with him. Everyone wondered why and how he gained such power. At this point, they started to turn their attention to him. Before, he was an idiot denying his imprisonment, but now he has become one of the best.
The Book of the dead altered his perception. Everything seemed more and more connected but disconnected at the same time. He could reach the essence of things to bend them to his will. He learnt of forbidden magic. He had only used that once, disguising it with a simple spell.
The more he learnt, the more he thirsted. Suddenly, the book ended. He was disappointed to read the last words craved by the previous author. The last one had called a devil in exchange for his soul for eternity with unimaginable powers granted until his body would start to decay. This poor soul realized the trap devil set before him, his youth was going, and the contract was coming. In a limited time, he added his story to the Book of the Dead and cast a spell that would banish any devil from entering the realm again. The devil collected his soul, but the spell quickly acted and banished all devils hunting people like him, full of despair, offering contracts where inner and outer devils collaborate to make pitiful souls sign.
He closed the book and looked to the ancestral language he could not understand in the first place. This was his name.
He had lost his purpose. All the fury he had for the wizards seemed irrelevant now. He was still furious about what he had been through, but now, he saw revenge against them would only be revenge against himself.
He waited the day when this subjugation process would end, entitling him to a wizard. He could have left early but wanted to see the process complete. He was the necessity of treatment of young minds, which would change the world for the better. He, as a child, had been sacrificed for this holy purpose in corrupt ways.
He was going to give power to the young, that would provide them with power to make them realize they and they only are the masters of their fate. Only then would he have his revenge by not having it.
He disappeared after the great mountain range. Finally, dropping the mask that was attached to him by this wizard. Wizards saw all this education was in vain, transforming this now aged but rebelling soul. But they could do nothing; he had been entitled as a wizard.
He disappeared into the frozen mountain range.
